The is the debut recording for both violinist, Johannes Pramsohler, and the International Baroque Players, an ensemble of twenty something baroque musicians, founded in the UK.
The CD’s repertoire consists of violin (bar one) concertos from seventeenth century German composers, who were linked to the Dresden Court. The CD begins with a concerto by Johann Friedrich Fasch (1688 – 1758) where we immediately hear the energetic, fresh and exciting playing of this young ensemble of baroque musicians (often referred to as IBP), who are certainly a group to watch, as they create the next generation of baroque orchestral performance in the UK. The second slow movement of the Fasch concerto is beautifully played by Pramsohler and IBP, but particularly noteworthy is also the warm and sweet tones of the bassoon and flute respectively, and also the sensitive continuo section.
