Boccherini isn’t the first composer that I would think of if I wanted to sit down and listen to a CD. However, this three disc set goes quite a way towards changing that. The whole collection has real sense of enjoyment about it, which particularly comes across in the second and third trios (B flat and A majors) despite some sections displaying a little too much rigid vibrato for my liking. Each trio takes up a single track on the disc; an unusual move but one that is very effective somehow in making the listener consider the work as a whole.
